Ibom Air & CemAir Amongst 11 Airlines To Join IATA In 2023

Nigerian airline, Ibom Air has become the latest member of the International Air Transport Association – IATA. Ibom Air and South Africa-based carrier CemAir are 2 African airlines to have joined IATA in 2023.

According to IATA, “a total of 11 airlines have joined the association in 2023. These airlines include; Nigerian carrier Ibom Air, South African carrier Cem Air, Oman’s Salam Air, Challenge Airlines, Tag Airlines, Global Airlines Group, Myanmar National Airlines, Plus Ultra Airlines, Salam Air, Air Montenegro, Chalair Aviation and ULS Airlines Cargo.”

The Chief Operating Officer, Ibom Air, Mr. George Uriesi, said, “We are delighted to have completed the administrative processes and to now become a full member of IATA. Apart from the multiple benefits Ibom Air stands to gain as a member of the Association, our membership particularly offers a whole new world of cooperation opportunities in the international airline community. We intend to tap fully into these as we expand our footprint into the region and continent”.

IATA says “Member airlines of the association stand to gain many benefits including; international recognition in the industry as the association maintains relationships with governments and other industry stakeholders around the world, targeting key industry priorities, driving industry change, increasing communication amongst others.”

Ibom Air and CEMAir join 36 other African airlines as IATA members.
