Nigeria’s leading and longest serving private domestic airline, Overland Airways has rolled out two new destinations in Nigeria to beef up its growing route network. From April 23, 2025. Overland Airways recommenced a thrice weekly flight on the Lagos-Abuja-Minna route. This flight restored air services to the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna after over 15 years hiatus, and will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
In the same vein, Overland Airways has recommenced flight services to Warri Airport (Osubi) in Delta State, South-South Nigeria. This route expansion according to the airline will continue in 2025 with other destinations. Overland Airways in recent times had also restored flight services from Lagos and Abuja to Jalingo, the Taraba State capital after the reopening of the Suntai Airport.
The inaugural event for Minna route held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna and was witnessed by Members of Nigeria’s Executive Council including the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, the Minister of Information, Mr. Mohammed Idris, and the Executive Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago and his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, amongst other dignitaries.
At the Inaugural event, Chief Executive Officer of Overland Airways, Capt. Edward Boyo, said: Aviation is not an end in itself, it is a means to an end” and highlighted that “what we are witnessing ….is not only about connectivity, it’s about opening up the economy of Niger State and offering opportunities for trade, investment, agriculture and other sector of the economy” Chief Operating Officer of Overland Airways, Mrs. Aderonke Emmanuel-James said “Overland Airways resumption of flight services to Warri is in response to the yearnings of our customers for reliable air transport to connect the city and its environs with Abuja and Lagos.
This flight will support important economic and social linkages between the people of Delta State and other parts of Nigeria. Passengers on the Warri service can connect seamlessly across our network to destinations in Northern and Southwestern Nigeria.”
Overland Airways flights to these destinations are operated using the airlines brand new Embraer E-175 aircraft which feature Premium and Economy cabins. The airline says the aircraft features the latest technology and offer customers unparallel comfort.
Overland Airways service offering has evolved from an all-turboprop fleet to a mixed fleet with the introduction of brand-new Embraer E175 jets. In October 2024, Overland Airways renewed its IOSA safety certification for the 5th consecutive time reaffirming its position as a safe and leading African carrier.
