TAAG Angola Airlines is launching its first commercial flight to Abidjan. The airline “opened ticket sales for its new Abidjan route, advancing the company’s expansion strategy across the African continent and reinforcing Angola’s positioning as a regional connectivity hub.”

According to TAAG, “the start of operations, with the first commercial passenger flight, is scheduled for April 6, 2026, linking Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (NBJ) to Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport (ABJ) in Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d’Ivoire and one of the main financial and logistics centers in West Africa.”

TAAG Angola Airlines says the Abidjan service will be “operated with the Airbus A220-300 aircraft, offering a total capacity of 137 passengers, including 12 seats in Business Class and 125 seats in Economy Class.”

With this new route, TAAG reinforces “regional connectivity and creates new opportunities for mobility, trade, and cooperation between Angola and Côte d’Ivoire, a strategic geography within Francophone Africa.”

TAAG said: “As part of the global network management strategy, the Côte d’Ivoire operation has been optimized to provide convenient onward connections for passengers departing from Abidjan, with final destinations including Lisbon (Portugal), Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa. Soon, connectivity may be expanded to other strategic markets within TAAG’s network, including São Paulo (Brazil), reflecting a passenger-centric service offering with multipoint international connections via Angola.”

Additionally, “the opening of ticket sales milestone for the new Abidjan route was followed by an institutional ceremony, held in Luanda, attended by representatives from the Government of Angola, the Diplomatic body, civil aviation stakeholders, as well as TAAG’s Board Members.”
