The African aviation industry has lost a distinguished member. Ms. Angeline Simana died after a brief illness. In a statement by the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) announced that Ms. Angeline Simana “passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, 30th November 2025 after a brief illness.”
“Ms. Simana served as the Director of Air Transport at AFCAC for six years, until the end of her term in June 2025. Her professionalism, humility, and unwavering commitment left a deep and enduring mark on our organisation and on all who had the privilege to work alongside her”, said AFCAC.
The late Ms. Simana served the industry meritoriously in her native Namibia, where she was the Executive Director of Namibia Civil Aviation Authority, and steered “Namibia’s regulatory framework within a short period from a very passive self-regulatory civil aviation system to a relatively balanced and responsive aviation regulatory framework.”

She also served as interim Secretary General of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) from January 2022 until the appointment of the substantive Secretary General in November 2022.

Singapore Aviation Academy in their tribute described Simana as a “distinguished Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA) alumni and long-time friend of SAA”, noting that “Her legacy will endure in the institutions she strengthened, the professionals she inspired and the many friends she made across the world.”
Namibia Civil Aviation Authority said “Throughout her career, Ms. Simana exemplified unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and a passionate commitment to advancing the aviation sector both locally and internationally.”

Simana was a distinguished supporter of Aviation & Allied Business Publications. The Editorial Board of Aviation & Allied Business Journal commiserates with her family and loved ones on her passing.
