The Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur has been honoured by the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations Africa and Middle East (IFATCA AFM) Region and the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) Africa. The GCAA says, the Excellence in Aviation Leadership and Safety Award “recognises Rev. Arthur’s outstanding contributions to aviation safety, security, and regulatory advancement within Ghana and across the African aviation landscape.”
According to Ghana CAA, the citation that accompanied the honour said: “In recognition of your exemplary leadership, distinguished service and unwavering commitment to strengthening aviation safety and security, advancing regulatory excellence, enhancing air navigation services and infrastructure, and promoting operational excellence in Ghana’s aviation sector and the wider African aviation community.”
“The recognition underscores Rev. Arthur’s leadership in aligning Ghana’s aviation sector with international best practices, particularly in safety oversight, air navigation service delivery, and infrastructure modernisation.” Ghana CAA added.
Rev. Wilfred Arthur expressed his gratitude for the honour, noting that the recognition would motivate him to work even harder to enhance the image of the Authority and promote Ghana’s standing within the global aviation ecosystem.
The GCAA noted that “Rev. Arthur dedicated the award to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for the honour bestowed upon him through his appointment as Chief Executive of the Authority, for which he said he remains deeply grateful.”
Additionally, “he dedicated the award to the Board, Management, and Staff of the GCAA for their immense support since his appointment a year ago.”
