Health Watch …FAAN Reassures Nigerians Of Adequate Measures To Prevent Coronavirus

sysadm News, Nigerian Updates

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has adopted a precautionary quarantine procedure in response to a new virus that has infected nearly 300 people and killed six in China.

In an effort to protect passengers and prevent the spread of the deadly virus known as Coronavirus, FAAN advises passengers and other airport users to comply with all quarantine procedures at the nation’s airports.

According to reports, the virus is highly communicable and has already spread to countries like Japan, Thailand and South Korea.

The Authority, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health, confirms the adequacy of the facilities at the nation’s airports to prevent the importation of the virus through the airports, stating that all the equipment and personnel used in combating the deadly ebola virus in 2014 are still in place at the airports.

FAAN’s Airport screening procedure involves the use of thermal scanners to monitor the temperature of passengers and captures their pictures. When passengers walk past the scanner, it registers their temperature and if too high, they are pulled aside for observation, FAAN states.
