Madagascar Airlines has confirmed that “Mr. Thierry de Bailleul, Chief Executive Officer of Madagascar Airlines, has informed the Chairman of the Board of Directors of his decision to step down from the exercise of his duties.”

With this development, the airline says “Mr. Mahery Andriamamonjy, previously Deputy Chief Executive Officer, has been appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer. He is assisted by a collegial management, made up of experienced managers in the operational, financial and commercial fields, fully mobilized to guarantee business continuity.”

The airline’s Board of Directors who noted Mr. de Bailleul’s resignation, saluted the progress made by all the staff under his leadership says: “these efforts have made it possible to initiate a profound transformation of the company, which is now oriented towards profitability from this year.”

According to the airline, the CEO’s decision to step down “aims to preserve the stability of the company and the continuity of the public air service, in an already tense social and economic context.” This development comes at a time when the airline has “been pursuing a gradual and measurable recovery for eighteen months.”

Amongst the gradual and measurable recovery highlighted was that “capacity offered has increased by nearly 66% in less than 2 years” and had exceeded the level 2019; the airline improved its fleet which now consists “5 operational aircraft, whereas at the end of 2023 we had barely more than one.”

Notably the airline says it has “support from donors and institutional partners who, for the first time in their history, had agreed to finance a recovery plan for a national airline.” It also confirmed its “punctuality of 15 minutes over the whole of 2025 reaching 80%.” The airline noted that “losses reduced quarter after quarter, for a return to breakeven that we were going to announce by the end of this year.”

Madagascar Airlines confirms that Mr. de Bailleul proposed that the “Executive Committee ensure operational continuity collegially, under the supervision of the Board of Directors and the supervisory authorities, in order to guarantee the normal continuation of flights and commitments to the company’s partners.”

Amidst the political environment in Mdagascar the airline assures “all its partners, customers and stakeholders of the full continuity of its operations, which continue normally throughout the network.”
