TAAG recognises and values the strategic contribution of Human Capital to the airline growth, development and sustainability, as well as collaboratively reinforcing team spirit and a sense of belonging among employees, promoting a People-centred organisational culture.

Attracting, educating, and retaining the next generation of aviation professionals is a high priority for TAAG and a key indicator for the current strategic plan. As air transport continues to evolve in response to the market characteristic, innovation, digitalization, artificial intelligence and global connectivity, TAAG acknowledges the essential role of human resource in shaping the future workforce that will lead the transformation.

TAAG believes that strong transformation is sustained by qualified professionals engaged in addressing emerging challenges and committed in interacting with youth for succession. “Take off with TAAG” programme is designed to respond to the National Development Plan and the Government Long Term Strategic Plan 2050 requirements for improvement of education for new generation adaptability in contributing to the ongoing diversification of the national economy. The aspirations of “Take off with TAAG” programme is mainly related to the implementation of the ICAO New Generation Aviation Professionals programme and AFRAA Youth Development in Aviation initiative.

Interns are part of the transformation milestone while pursuing the internship. They are members of the continuous journey of the team by working together to build meaningful avenues that foster an even more positive and productive workplace. Accordingly, interns are merged in systemic transformation with insightful snapshot on the working environment along with leadership, communication, well-being, and opportunities for growth.

The process is intensive in 2025 long as TAAG organizes several internship programmes where trainees have the very first interaction with professionals. Interns always express gratitude with strong sense of accomplished mission and commitment to professionalism, responsibility, and pride.

Outreach activities are conducted beyond civil aviation dedicated training centres namely Centro de Instrução 14 de Abril, Centro Aeronáutico de Instrução (CAI), Academia de Aviação Civil de Angola (AACA) while considering local education institutions with programmes including civil aviation-oriented credits or modules. Outreach programmes bring together secondary school students as well, for a dynamic exchange on career opportunities and the essential skills needed to succeed in the aviation industry.

The 57th Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) provided more visibility, both nationally and internationally, by TAAG and AFRAA Secretariat teaming efforts to preparing new generation through participation in the Assembly and in specific workshops targeting students from partner educational institutions.

The event brought students together in an environment of active learning, knowledge exchange, networking with international civil aviation experts and authorities, and visit to exhibition. Topics concerning leadership, revenue generation, yield management, ancillary revolution, air operations, safety, security, new technology, innovation, connectivity, environmental protection, and career prospects in the sector were addressed throughout the outreach session, therefore, providing an integrated view of the challenges and opportunities in air transport industry.

The activities entail TAAG’s strategy to build strong partnership with academia, stimulating skills development and bringing future talent closer to the airline operational reality for sustainable aviation ecosystem in Angola and across the African continent.

The AFRAA and TAAG initiative was designed to inspire and guide young people towards pursuing careers in this fast-evolving and technologically advanced sector. High school students learnt from Senior Officials in Civil Aviation the contribution of aviation in daily life of human being. Young boys’ and girls’ perception that aviation is limited to take off and landing changed suddenly by being aware of the involvement of various professionals and services to assuring safety, efficiency and sustainability of the entire process prior, during and after a flight.

Leading industry Officials who shared their experiences and insights across various aviation fields came from Air Navigation Services Provider (ANSP), Airport operators, Fuel suppliers, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Airlines, International Organizations, Manufacturers and other stakeholders.

The speakers highlighted the importance of skills such as focus, language proficiency, and continuous learning as cornerstones of professional growth, underscoring global nature of air transport industry operating to the highest standards of excellence.

Afterwards, students were given a guided tour to the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport to sightseeing the operational areas, workshops, and passenger security and facilitation path (AVSEC/FAL).

This initiative strengthens TAAG’s strategic commitment to empowering and integrating young Angolans into the aviation workforce, in accordance with its mission to be a key driver in the development of national human capital, one of the priorities in the National Development Plan, the Government Long Term Strategic Plan 2050, and the current airline Strategic Plan. The success of the event reflects the strong dedication of TAAG, AFRAA and partners to promoting a promising future for the next generation in aviation.

Angola is actively engaged in advancing gender equality, in line with both national and international instruments, such as the Beijing Platform for Action, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Maputo Protocol and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Resolutions on the subject.

The airline is at the forefront for the materialization of the Government engagement to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations (UN) instruments concerning right of women. In addition, TAAG is member of the national Protocol on Gender Equality in Aviation Sector promoted by ANAC. The Protocol presents a significant milestone with regard to gender matters in national aviation ecosystem. The signatories are Autoridade Nacional da Aviação Civil (ANAC), Airport Temporary Operarator and Operating Consulting (ATO&OC), Empresa Nacional de Navegação Aérea (ENNA), Sociedade de Gestão dos Aeroportos (SGA), Instituto Nacional de Investigação e Prevenção de Acidentes de Transportes (INIPAT), VIPAero, and TAAG – Angola Airlines.

Successful implementation of the Protocol’s goals requires engagement across all areas of the airline. Key success factors such as inclusion, career progression, training, well-being programmes, revision of internal policies, qualified women’s access to opportunities, and active participation in industry programmes would lead towards significant achievements when youth is adequately prepared to address challenges.

ICAO is a global forum where aviation policymakers, industry leaders, education and training experts, other international organizations, and youth explore innovative solutions, share knowledge and best practices, and foster strong partnerships targeting the New Generation Aviation Professionals.

Take off with TAAG programme is a continuous assignment to the airline and needs permanent improvement to align with the ever-changing environment in airlines business. Follow-up is carried out with partner and other volunteer educational institutions to join efforts with the objective to enhancing the programme. International best practices are among the references considered in reviewing the agenda.
