Ethiopian Airlines Leases Two New ATR 72-600 From Abelo For Air Congo’s Operations

Turboprop aircraft lessor, Abelo has leased two new ATR72-600 aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines Group for operations by its partner airline, Air Congo. According to Abelo, “the delivery of the aircraft is a significant step towards supporting Air Congo’s growth and network expansion.”

Chief Executive Officer, Abelo, Stephen Gorman said it was “honoured to have been selected by Ethiopian Airlines Group and Air Congo for this new lease of two brand-new ATR 72-600 aircraft from our order book.” Gorman added that “The African market represents significant opportunities for Abelo and for the large turboprop segment. We really look forward to capitalising on our unique orderbook to serve that market successfully.”

Chief Executive Officer, Ethiopian Airlines Group, Mr. Mesfin Tasew remarked: “The delivery of the aircraft will greatly support Air Congo’s operations and play a key role in strengthening the intra-Africa connectivity. Cementing our Pan-African value, we continue leading the transformation of the industry in the continent, supported by meaningful partnerships such as this one.”

Abelo added that “the introduction of the two new ATR 72-600 aircraft is expected to further strengthen Air Congo’s operational capabilities and reinforce its position as a growing carrier. Through collaborative initiatives such as Air Congo, Ethiopian Airlines continues to play a key role in advancing connectivity, economic integration, and mobility across the continent.”
