ITAerea Aeronautical Business School Honours AFCAC For Advancing Aviation Capacity Building In Africa

The International Air Transport and Aeronautical Business School (ITAerea) has recognized the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) for its commitment to aviation capacity building and professional development across the continent.

The recognition award was presented by ITAerea’s Africa Regional Manager, Mr. Romuald Ngueyap, to AFCAC’s Secretary General Mrs. Adefunke Adeyemi during a ceremony held on the sidelines of the African Aviation Convention & Expo 2026.

Mrs. Adeyemi highlighted its ongoing efforts under the African Women and Youth in Aviation (AWAYA) initiative, which focuses on empowering aviation professionals through education, training and mentorship. “Under the pillar of AWAYA, we have five intervention areas, the first is on scholarships and fellowships, where we support students and further the learning and education of African professionals, from entry level to senior management, to be able to further their education”, she said.

Mrs. Adeyemi reiterated that this is possible due to its strategic partnership with ITAerea and other aviation training institutions, which has already trained hundreds of aviation professionals across Africa.

Noting the importance of training, Mrs. Adeyemi said: “We really do need to build many more aviation professionals to meet the need, especially in Africa, as the second fastest-growing aviation region over the next five years.”

Highlighting the success of the collaboration, the Secretary-General referenced a graduation ceremony held in May for the first cohort of beneficiaries under the partnership.

Ms. Adeyemi acknowledged Miss. Awa Ndiaye, a beneficiary of the business school who got certified in the Master of  Business Administration in Aviation Management (MBAAM) delivered by ITAerea Aeronautical Business school during the 2025-2026 academic year and the first intake under AWAYA-ITAerea scholarship.

“It was a really important one and many of our African professionals graduated from the business school,” she said.
