Ethiopian Airlines To Resume Flights To Durban, South Africa In December 2026

Ethiopian Airlines (ET) is set to resume daily passenger services to Durban, South Africa, effective 11 December 2026. Africa’s largest carrier says, “as its third destination in South Africa, following Johannesburg and Cape Town, the service will complement Ethiopian Airlines’ existing operations in the country, further strengthening connectivity and providing travelers with greater choice and convenience. The route will also facilitate increased business, tourism, and trade links between South Africa and the rest of the world.”

Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew said: “The resumption of this daily service underscores our commitment to providing seamless connectivity and greater travel choices for our passengers within Africa and beyond. We see strong potential to further enhance trade, tourism, and business links between South Africa and our extensive global network through our Addis Ababa hub.”

ET says it has “maintained a strong presence in the South African market for more than three decades, having commenced operations to Johannesburg in 1993, followed by Cape Town in 2015. Over the years, Ethiopian has progressively expanded its services and market presence in response to growing demand for passenger and cargo air transportation.”
