The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has appointed Romain EKOTO as the Regional Director of the ICAO Office for West and Central Africa (WACAF), based in Dakar, replacing Prosper Zo’o Minto’o who was recently appointed Director General of Dakar-based ASECNA, according to reports.
Ekoto was “Selected from 78 candidates” who applied for the job. Ekoto has over 20 years of experience in civil aviation, with key positions at the African Development Bank and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Before his appointment, EKOTO was the Chief Aviation Officer at the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) based in Abidjan-Cote D’Ivoire.
Ekoto’s mission at the ICAO WACAF office will be to “strengthen regulatory compliance, improve aviation safety and security, and support States in the application of international standards. Among its priorities is the support of national authorities in the certification of international airports.”
