Air Seychelles has donated various items to the National Council for Children (NCC), the body responsible for the protection and safety of the children in Seychelles.

The donation including confectionaries and a wide range of packaged food items was handed over to the Director of President’s Village, Brigitte Balette in the presence of NCC’s Chief Executive Officer, Jean-Claude Matombe by the Air Seychelles Head of Corporate Affairs, Sheryl Barra during a small ceremony held recently at the NCC headquarters in Bel Air.

The items which will be distributed to the Children’s home across the island by the NCC was a great initiative from the employees of the airline as part of its yearly corporate social responsibility of giving back to communities where it matters.

Sheryl Barra, Air Seychelles Head of Corporate Affairs, who spoke at the event, says: “We are committed to making a positive contribution and a real difference within the Seychelles community. For their kind hearted support towards this project I express my gratitude to all the Air Seychelles staff members for their generous contributions and also the NCC for their support in accepting the donation on behalf of all the orphanages.”

Jean – Claude Matombe, NCC CEO, appreciates Air Seychelles staff for their generous donation by saying: “We are so lucky to have you as a donor , and it is this act of kindness that helps us to realize that there are unsung heroes out there, who believes in the future of the less fortunate,” adding: “Air Seychelles is helping our children spread their wings because this donation will to a large extent, help to provide quality care for children and to further strengthened our programme to improve the overall well-being of children, hence words cannot really express how grateful we are today.”

Also, the airline together with the Seychelles High Commission based in Johannesburg and the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) had last December joined hands to bring some early Christmas cheer to a group of 230 children at the Save Our Soul Children’s Village Mamelodi in Pretoria, South Africa.
