Air Senegal has strengthened and modernised its fleet with the acquisition of a Boeing 737-800. Air Senegal says, “this acquisition is part of the momentum initiated by the national airline at the Dubai Airshow 2025, during which Air Senegal announced an order for nine (9) Boeing 737 MAX and six (6) Boeing 737NG aircraft.”
The CEO of Air Senegal, Tidiane Ndiaye said: “The arrival of this Boeing 737-800, according to the General Management, is fully in line with the strategy of modernisation of the Air Senegal fleet. It will enable the company to strengthen its operational capabilities, support the expansion of its network and consolidate its positioning on the regional and international markets.” Mr. Ndiaye said.
The Managing Director, Tidiane Ndiaye added that “the acquisition of this new aircraft is entirely the responsibility of the State of Senegal. We welcome this support, which demonstrates the confidence placed in our company and its growth potential.”
Air Senegal stated that “this support reflects the desire of the public authorities to strengthen national air transport and to provide the country with an airline capable of meeting the challenges of mobility, connectivity and sovereignty.”
Air Senegal said that “the new aircraft is also of particular importance as it will be used as part of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Dakar 2026, the first Olympic event to be held on the African continent.”
“The Boeing 737-800 will be used to collect the Olympic flame for the YOG Dakar 2026 in Athens. The aircraft will feature special branding in the colours of the Dakar2026 YOG, making it a true flying ambassador for this historic event.” Air Senegal added.
