Airlink will launch a three-weekly flight between Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth) and Mbombela’s Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, from 16 November 2026. The Southern Africa carrier announced that “this new route will be operated by an Embraer ERJ140 aircraft which accommodate 44 passengers with only window and aisle seats – there are no middle seats on any Airlink flights.”
Airlink CEO, de Villiers Engelbrecht said: “This new route pairs the respective gateways to the Sunshine Coast / Garden Route with the Kruger National Park and its surrounding lodges and other attractions.”
The airline noted that the routes will benefit leisure travellers as “it will cut travel time significantly, avoiding the need to connect via Johannesburg. It will also support business travel between the Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga’s economic and industrial hubs.”
