Swedavia Airports has confirmed that EGYPTAIR will launch “operations at Stockholm Arlanda Airport ahead of the 2026 winter season, launching four weekly flights to Cairo International Airport (CAI).” Swedavia Airports says, “the new route will further strengthen connectivity between Stockholm and Egypt, while providing convenient access to destinations across the Middle East and Africa.”
Director, Aviation Business at Swedavia, Elizabeth Axtelius said: “There is great confidence in the Swedish air travel market and EGYPTAIR’s investment in a direct route from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Cairo is a clear sign of this. EGYPTAIR will play an important role in connecting Sweden to Egypt and other well-established markets in the Middle East as well as Africa. Swedavia’s main goal is to increase connectivity and facilitate for people to meet, whether it is for business, leisure or to visit family and friends.”
Swedavia Airports said: “Egypt is a rapidly evolving market for infrastructure, Tech, tourism and hospitality. Cairo is the country’s political, economic, cultural and business center, and the gateway to Egypt’s major tourism assets, including Giza, Saqqara and the Nile Valley. The new route will benefit business travellers, while also supporting the hospitality industry and facilitating faster, more efficient transportation of high-value goods. Furthermore, the route will serve as an important connection to the Middel East and Africa due to EGYPTAIR’s vast network.”
Swedavia Airports added that from December 18, 2026, EGYPTAIR will operate Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) – Cairo Intl. Airport (CAI) four times a week. The route will be operating using “an Airbus 321 Neo seating 182 passengers in two classes, business and economy.”.
