Ethiopian Airlines (ET) says it will be commencing a “new scheduled passenger service to Port Harcourt, Nigeria, effective 01 December 2026.”
Ethiopian Airlines says, the service will further strengthen its “presence in Nigeria and enhance air connectivity between West Africa and the airline’s extensive global network through its hub in Addis Ababa.”
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew said: “We are pleased to further strengthen our presence in Nigeria with the addition of Port Harcourt, our fifth destination in the country. Our continued expansion in Nigeria reflects our commitment to supporting the country’s economic development through enhanced air connectivity. The new service will provide greater convenience and seamless travel options for our customers while reinforcing trade, tourism, and business links between Nigeria, Africa, and the rest of the world.”
ET stated that “Port Harcourt, one of Nigeria’s leading commercial and industrial hubs, serves as a key gateway to the country’s energy sector and broader economic activities. The new route will provide passengers with convenient connections to Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive global network spanning Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas, while fostering stronger trade, tourism, investment, and cultural exchanges.”
According to the airline, Nigeria remains one of its “most significant and longest-served markets in Africa, with the airline launching its first service to the country in 1960. Today, Ethiopian Airlines operates flights to Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Enugu. The addition of Port Harcourt further underscores the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and supporting economic growth across Nigeria and the African continent.”
