Malagasy National Airline, Madagascar Airlines to mark “its return to Roland Garros airport with the landing of an ATR 72.” Madagascar Airlines says, “this return opens a new sequence in air relations between Madagascar and Reunion Island, before the commercial resumption of the Reunion Island – Sainte-Marie Island – Antananarivo route, scheduled for December 16.”
Madagascar Airlines stated that “the presence of the airline at La Réunion Roland Garros Airport is a concrete expression of its desire and that of the airport to bring the two territories closer together. Beyond an air link, the challenge is that of a more fluid regional mobility, allowing Reunionese travellers to access Madagascar and the various destinations served by its network more easily.”
Madagascar Airlines added that “this cooperation between Madagascar Airlines and Roland Garros Airport supports the development of tourism, economic and human exchanges in the Indian Ocean. It also gives the national airline a point of support to continue the opening of its regional network and better connect Madagascar to its local markets.”
Executive Vice President in charge of aviation operations at Madagascar Airlines, Rija Taiana Razafimbelo said: “Our ambition is to make regional network a real tool for bringing the territories closer together. The return to Roland Garros Airport marks a concrete step in this direction: to develop routes that meet mobility needs, facilitate trade and make Malagasy destinations more accessible. Sainte-Marie is a good illustration of this today.”
Madagascar Airlines noted that “for Roland Garros Airport, this resumption also strengthens the possibilities of connection with Madagascar and supports the diversification of destinations accessible from Reunion Island.”
Member of the Board of Directors of La Réunion Roland Garros Airport, Fabrice Grondin said: “We are delighted with this recovery, which strengthens Reunion Island’s regional connectivity. Two flights a week will connect Reunion Island to the Island of Sainte-Marie, a destination with unmissable assets. Alongside Madagascar Airlines, we are pursuing our ambition to develop regional routes and promote tourism, economic and human exchanges in the Indian Ocean.”
