Angolan national carrier, TAAG Angola Airlines has announced that its passengers “will now benefit from a new international mobile connectivity solution, allowing them to purchase international mobile data plans simply, quickly, and entirely digitally, guaranteeing immediate internet access in over 190 destinations without needing to replace their physical SIM card. Already in effect since 3rd July, the initiative is the result of a strategic partnership established between the airline and Kolet, a technology company specializing in eSIM services.”
TAAG stated that “in the first phase, Kolet’s offer is being communicated to passengers through pre-boarding messages sent via SMS and email, covering all TAAG markets, except Angola. Subsequently, the solution will be integrated into other digital touchpoints in the customer journey, namely on the Online Check-in and Manage My Booking platforms, making the service even more accessible and intuitive.”
According to TAAG, the partnership is part of its strategy “to develop ancillary revenues by providing complementary services that add value to the passenger experience and, at the same time, contribute to diversifying the Company’s revenue sources.”
“With this solution, passengers can activate a mobile data plan even before starting their trip, ensuring immediate connectivity upon arrival at their destination. The initiative responds to the needs of modern travelers, providing greater convenience, flexibility, and peace of mind during international travel.” TAAG noted.
Additionally, TAAG stated that “in an initial stage, the main objective is to make the service available to all passengers and promote its use, anticipating increasing adoption, especially among customers traveling to international destinations who seek practical, economical, and secure solutions for internet access. The partnership’s performance will be monitored through indicators such as conversion rate, number of activations, and revenue generated, allowing for the assessment of the initiative’s impact and the identification of optimization opportunities.”
