Uganda’s flag carrier, Uganda Airlines has confirmed “the launch of scheduled direct flights to Accra, Ghana, and Kigali, Rwanda, expanding travel, trade and investment opportunities across the continent.”
Uganda Airlines says, “the introduction of these two destinations expands the Airline’s route network and provides passengers with more convenient travel options for business, tourism and trade. The new services provide passengers with more convenient travel options for business, tourism and trade while strengthening Entebbe’s position as a regional hub with seamless connections across the Airline’s network.”
According to the national carrier, “Accra strengthens Uganda Airlines’ presence in West Africa, building on the success of the Lagos route. As a strategically important business, tourism and diplomatic hub, this service complements the Airline’s regional growth strategy while opening more travel opportunities through its hub at Entebbe International Airport.”
“Kigali links two of East Africa’s fastest-growing economies. The route offers seamless travel between the region’s key commercial and tourism centres, providing convenient onward connections through Entebbe to destinations across Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.” Uganda Airlines noted.
Ato Girma Wake said: “The launch of Accra and Kigali marks another key milestone in Uganda Airlines’ growth strategy. As Africa’s connectivity continues to grow, these routes will strengthen commercial and tourism links while offering our guests greater convenience and more travel choices. We remain committed to connecting Africa and supporting regional integration through reliable and efficient air transport.”
Uganda Airlines stated that beyond passenger travel, the new routes enhance its “cargo network by providing exporters and importers with more efficient access to key markets in West and East Africa. The service is expected to support the movement of fresh produce, manufactured goods and time-sensitive cargo.”
Uganda Airlines added that this expansion reflects its “continued investment in building a connected African network that drives economic growth.”
