The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has granted approval to increase the operating hours at the Asaba International Airport, Asaba, Delta State. The operating hours have been extended from 7pm to 10pm from December 20, 2021 to January 20, 2022.

This sequel to the request by the Airport to NCAA to grant the extension, and the subsequent inspection conducted on November 27, 2021.

The NCAA Dirctor General, Capt. Musa Nuhu, has also mandated the Asaba Airport Authorities to “kindly endeavour to ensure strict compliance to regulatory requirements at all times.”

The Asaba Airport serves important towns and cities in the Easter Nigeria like Asaba and Onitsha and other communities. The airport is also expected to handle hundreds of passengers especially travelling for the end-of-year festive season.

The Delta State Government early 2021 handed over the Airport to the management of Asaba Airport Company which won the bidding for the management of the airport.

The Delta State Government signed a concession agreement with the Asaba Airport Company on 23rd February, 2021, with the aim of upgrading the Asaba Airport and running it profitably over the 30-year concession period.

The airport is expected to support movement for agriculture, trade and other economic activities. Air Peace and Aero currently fly to Asaba Airport.
