Air Peace Launches Direct Flights from Abuja-Heathrow

Nigerian airline, Air Peace has launched direct flight services between Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital and London Heathrow Airport, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the airline’s history.

The inaugural ceremony which was held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was witnessed by the Honourable Minister of Aviation, Barrister. Festus Keyamo, who reaffirmed the Nigerian government’s support for local carriers, reiterated the efforts put into securing the Heathrow slot under the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA), including the removal of Nigeria from the blacklist, signing of the IDERA and resolving insurance issues with insurers, lessors and the financiers.

Chairman of Air Peace, Barrister Allen Onyema applauded the Federal Government for ensuring this feat was achieved. Barrister Onyema stated: “This isn’t just a route; it’s a statement of how far we’ve come as a proudly Nigerian airline. From Lagos–Gatwick to now Abuja–Heathrow, we’re expanding opportunities, deepening global access, and flying the Nigerian flag higher than ever before.”

It can be recalled that the airline launched its Lagos-Gatwick route in March 2024.
