“Heroes come and go, but legends are forever” – Kobe Bryant
The African aviation industry has been thrown into mourning following the passing of a towering personality and a legend in African aviation, Mr. Nick Fadugba, Chief Executive Officer of African Aviation Services.
A foremost aviation journalist, entrepreneur and the publisher of African Aviation magazine, Mr. Fadugba served the aviation industry in Africa for over 30 years and contributed immensely to key issues in the industry and consistently pushed the African perspective on global aviation issues.
During his lifetime, Mr. Fadugba, a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society of the United Kingdom, was appointed Secretary General of the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) in 2009 and Chairman, African Business Aviation Association (AfBAA) in 2018. In 2020, he was nominated by the Government of South Africa to the interim board of South African Airways (SAA) as a non-executive Director.
He hosted the annual African Aviation conferences series which focused on MRO, Finance, Training, and Business Aviation amongst other conferences that helped set the agenda for the industry.
Fadugba advocated for African governments must remove the blockages that hindered the proper development of the aviation industry in Africa. He was a very personable personality.
The African aviation industry will miss this aviation giant. We join the rest of African aviation community to bid farewell to Nick Fadugba and seek fortitude for his family to bear his loss.
