AviaDev Appoints Capt. Gilbert Kibe And Dr. Namhla Tshetu To Its Advisory Board

AviaDev Africa has announced “the appointment of two distinguished aviation leaders to the AviaDev Advisory Board: Capt. Gilbert Kibe and Dr. Namhla Tshetu.”

AviaDev stated that “their combined experience across regulation, airline operations and aviation development will play an important role in shaping the future direction of AviaDev as we continue to champion the growth of air connectivity across Africa.”

AviaDev pointed out that the role of an Advisory Board member is “to help us shape the content and direction of each edition of AviaDev Africa. Their input directly impacts the programme and ensures that it reflects the challenges and opportunities facing our community at the time of the event.”

According to AviaDev, Capt. Gilbert Kibe, who is the Managing Director, Air Transport Consulting Ltd., “brings more than 45 years of experience in the aviation sector. He is the former Director General of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), a role he held from 2015 to 2022, and has served as a Single African Air Transport Market Pilot Implementation Project (SAATM-PIP) Ambassador for the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC). He has also chaired the CANSO Executive Committee and currently sits on the boards of AMREF Flying Doctors and NCBA Insurance Company Ltd.”

Additionally, Executive Manager, Corporate Services, Airlink, Dr. Namhla Tshetu, she “leads compliance, aero-political affairs, transformation and initiatives that strengthen intra-Africa air connectivity at Airlink. With 11 years in aviation and over two decades across strategy, project management and corporate governance, she holds a Ph.D. in Aviation Economics from the University of Johannesburg — focused on the impact of open skies on African airlines — and an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science.”

AviaDev noted that the Advisory Board is “a collection of individuals with varied and deep expertise who help me shape the agenda of the platform and the annual event, as we continue to offer a platform built by the community, for the community.”
