Nigeria’s Ibom Air has operated “its first scheduled international flight from Uyo to Accra and back, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s growth and firmly positioning the Victor Attah International Airport as a bona fide international gateway into and out of Nigeria.”

A statement by the Group Manager, Marketing and Communication, Ibom Airlines Limited, Ms. Aniekan Essienette said, “the historic flight, which took place on Sunday, 28 June 2026, also demonstrated seamless connectivity, with passengers transiting from Abuja to Accra and from Accra to Abuja via Uyo.”

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air, Mr. George Uriesi, said: “We are delighted to have commenced international operations out of Uyo. More importantly, we successfully facilitated seamless transit for passengers between Abuja and Accra through Uyo. This is exactly what the new terminal represents: a world-class airport experience in a modern facility that gives passengers a sense of dignity and respect. With this development, we believe the game has changed for air travel in Nigeria.”

Ms. Essienette stated that Ibom Air will operate the Uyo–Accra route twice weekly. She added that “this milestone aligns with Ibom Air’s commitment to expanding connectivity in Nigeria and Africa, enhancing the passenger experience, and supporting the continued development of Akwa Ibom State as a key aviation hub in West Africa.”
