The Institute of Nigerian Aeronautical Engineers (INAE) has honoured new fellows and members, with a call for engineering excellence, innovation, and commitment to aviation safety and national development.
Speaking at the induction ceremony, the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo duly represented by the General Manager, Lagos, Barr. Bukola Teriba commended the Institute and its leadership for upholding professional standards in the aviation sector. She described the honour as “particularly significant because it comes from a professional body that is built on exercise, education, and service to the nation.”
The DG stated that that “aeronautical engineering remains central to Nigeria’s drive for safety, security, and sustainable development in the aviation industry. Engineering excellence is not accidental. It is built on discipline, integrity, competence, and an uncompromising commitment to quality.”
Capt. Najomo stated that key areas in shaping the future of aircraft systems and aviation operations includes “data analytics, advanced materials, and artificial intelligence.”
The DG urged that “The Institute of Nigerian Aeronautical Engineers must remain at the forefront of promoting technical competence, engineering education, and innovation within Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem.”
He charged young engineers present at the event to embrace continuous learning, innovation, and professionalism, stressing that the work done behind the scenes by engineers ensures millions of passengers travel safely every day.
The event had in attendance members INAE, industry leaders, regulators, representatives of airlines, training institutions, and academia.
The event saw the honorary conferment of DG NCAA, Capt. Chris Najomo as a fellow of the institute and the CEOs of United Nigeria, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo and XEjet, Mr. Emmanuel Iza conferred with the Institute’s prestigious Gold Medal Award.
