Flight Safety Foundation Announces Nominations For Leadership And Innovation Awards

The Flight Safety Foundation (FSF) has announced that “nominations are now open for Flight Safety Foundation’s Jerome Lederer Safety Leadership Medal and the David Morrison Innovation Award.” The Foundation says, “Both awards will be presented during a special awards dinner held in conjunction with the Foundation’s 79th annual International Aviation Safety Summit (IASS 2026) scheduled for Nov. 10–12 in Montreal.”

The Flight Safety Foundation (FSF) said: “The Jerome Lederer Safety Leadership Medal recognizes an individual or team for making a significant contribution to the advancement of civil aviation safety through demonstrated organizational or industry leadership and by developing or advancing programs that will have a lasting impact on aviation. Selection criteria include the nominee’s role as a strong champion of safety information–sharing and an advocate of developing and promoting safety standards, and broad recognition of the nominee as a safety leader.”

“The David Morrison Innovation Award recognizes an individual, a team, or an organization for notable technological innovation or process transformation in civil aviation. As part of the selection process, the Foundation would like to understand how the need was identified, what went into designing and developing the innovation or process change, and how collaboration played a role.” FSF added.

The Flight Safety Foundation stated that “Lederer and Morrison were among the group of innovators who launched the Foundation in 1945.”

FSF noted that “the deadline for submitting nominations for both awards is July 8, 2026. More information on the awards and how to submit nominations is available on the Foundation’s website.”

The International Aviation Safety Summit (IASS 2026) is scheduled for Nov. 10–12 in Montreal and the registration for IASS 2026 will open in June.
